What is a Class B motorhome?
The smallest and most fuel efficient of the three main RV types, Class B RV's are often called camper vans! These motorhome types allow for travelers to experience the freedom of RV travel, without having to deal with the size of a large Class A or C motorhome! These recreational vehicles are built on an automotive van chassis. In recent years, you've even seen many individuals creating their own versions of the Class B RV's! Another reason why travelers are loving these types of RV's is because of their weight! With a lower weight means better gas mileage, and we all know how those prices have been in recent years!
Average Size of Class B motorhome:
Typically between 17 and 20ft in length. These camper vans weigh between 6,000 and 9,000 pounds. The width and height of these motorhomes typically match that of other road vans.
Average Gas Mileage of a Class B motorhome:
The average gas mileage of your Class B motorhome rental will vary quite a bit depending on what year, make, model, and age of the unit. But, you can rest assured the gas mileage is significantly better than that of a class A or C RV. We typically see on the very low end class B RV's getting 10-13 miles to the gallon
But, these lightweight RV's will surprise you at times, we've seen instances where some of our units were averaging 25 miles to the gallon on the highway! So it really just depends.
